The Hybrid Racing Formula Intake 89mm Race MAF Housing gives dealers and performance shops a clear upgrade path for customers who have outgrown the 76mm Street housing. It is designed for 2017–2021 Honda Civic Type R FK8 models already equipped with the Hybrid Racing Formula Intake, allowing the existing intake system to support higher-power and larger-turbo builds without requiring the customer to purchase another complete intake.
For the shop, this is a targeted solution when datalogs show the factory MAF sensor approaching its approximately 5.0-volt limit. Hybrid Racing testing showed the 76mm housing reaching 4.96 volts at 433.5 wheel horsepower, while the 89mm housing kept the same factory sensor within its usable measurement range. Shops should begin monitoring MAF voltage on vehicles approaching 400 wheel horsepower, but the upgrade recommendation should be based on the datalog rather than horsepower alone.
The conversion is straightforward and reuses the customer's existing Hybrid Racing airbox, filter, outside-air feeds, coupler, and factory Honda MAF sensor. The shop only needs to replace the 76mm housing and velocity stack with the included 89mm components, transfer the MAF sensor, and recalibrate the vehicle. This creates an additional installation and tuning opportunity while keeping the customer's upgrade cost lower than replacing the full intake.
The 89mm Race housing requires Hondata FlashPro or an equivalent tuning solution capable of applying the correct MAF calibration. Custom tuning is required, and the vehicle should not be operated using the previous 76mm calibration. No complimentary basemap is included because vehicles needing this upgrade typically have unique combinations of turbochargers, fuel systems, exhaust components, and supporting modifications.
